Prezi.com

Hello again!!!

I wanted to put up a little post about a new program I have been introduced to: Prezi. This is pure geniusness! Seriously, you'll all have to check it out. My english teacher informed our class that Powerpoint is out in the college world, so you need to find a difference {and better, wasn't actually said, but you could tell he meant it *wink*} way to present your information. Hence, Prezi. Prezi, found at prezi.com, is a new way to present "stuff". Basically, you get a blank "slate" (I'll call it). There is no limitation to size (big or small), width, or height. Instead of slides, everything is organized on this slate, allowing you unlimited space, unlike slides. You really need to just check it out and play around with it. It's very simple to figure it out and is probably shorter to use than to make a Powerpoint or Smartboard presentation. There is a tutorial video, if you want to watch it. It is helpful.

Here is a Prezi that I recently made for my presentation on Cole Porter:

If you click on "Cole Porter" that is linked below it, it will take you onto the site where my prezi is found. Here you can also see it with a better/fuller screen, whereas here it is cut off a bit. Hope you like it (and maybe even learned something!!)!

I'm crossing my fingers that this works, otherwise I will give you the link to see it. If anyone wants anymore information on this or help getting started/in general with it, let me know! If I can answer it, I most certainly will *wink*
Talk to you all soon,
Hannah

  1. Who the heck told your English teacher that Powerpoint is out? Everyone I know, spanning from Alberta to Virginia, uses Powerpoint in university...

The Prezi thing is cool, but it made me nauseous.

  2. Lol! Well, he said that from talking to some teachers from his old college (he wasn't there too long ago), other proffesors he knows, and from workshops that he's had to go to, it's out. I don't know! That's what he said *wink*

Well, you can do it anyway you wanted to. So, it wouldn't have to spin or anything...that's only a choice thing. Plus, when you're actually presenting it'll move a lot slower because you'll be talking about your points.

    I don't know!

  4. My teacher specifically told us at least 5 colleges today that have "banned" Powerpoint. You literally cannot use it for presentations on campus/in classes.

I think that's really interesting because it's not even that they're tired of seeing it used, but you literally are not allowed to use it by school regulations. Isn't that crazy!?
