Seasons of Love Blogfest - The Single Girl's Guide to Valentine's Day!!

Welcome, welcome!! First, can I just say THANK YOU to Amber for organizing this whole thing?! How fun has it been so far, people? Awesome! I'm honored to be among these other women for our blogfest. Bravo, ladies! Love your blogs and the party has gotten a great start!

Now as you can probably tell by the title, I do not have an author here today, unfortunately. Been having a hard time getting someone to fit me into their busy schedules! SO, you're stuck with me today, all me ; )

Now, let me ask you. Who doesn't think of Beyonce when they hear the term 'Single Ladies' now!? Lol! So of course, Beyonce must be our beginning for this post. Anyway, this will take you through one Valentine's Day, what I might suggest you do, single ladies ; )

Step 1: Keep music going ALL day! Start to finish, it'll make you happy ; )

P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)

Step 2: Breakfast, ladies! I would suggest letting yourself go all out since it a holiday afterall ; ) So, chocolate chip pancakes, anyone!? Or Bee and I both highly suggest chocolate chip coconut pancakes! Mmmmm even better!

Step 3: Now, just because it's Valentine's Day doesn't mean you shouldn't get your exercise in! But do it in a fun way! I would suggest playing Just Dance on your Wii! *gestures this way* C'mon you're all invited over to my house to play! This is one of my absolute favorites! This is the screen you look at on the TV. You follow the girl. SO fun, trust me! Now who's up for the challenge?? I'm warning you I can get over 10,000 points now! But none of you imagine me doing this, ya here!?

It's Raining Men

Step 4: Now for a little relaxation, ladies. You deserve it. Time for some quality reading time : ) Now, we all love that, no? Here are just a couple suggestions, a total variety of course:

- The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
- A Passion Most Pure by Julie Lessman
- Flavor of the Week by Tucker Shaw
- A Soldier's Promise by Cheryl Wyatt

Anyone else have any good Valentine's Day books to recommend? These are just romances, not specifically Vday! Lol...

Step 5: Pamper yourself!!

This could be as simple as taking a hot bath and shaving your legs, c'mon you know you're all guilty of not doing it as often in the winter ; ) Or as "complicated" as setting up a mani-pedi or getting a massage. This Valentine's Day is for you, in celebration of you loving yourself, so go all out! Relax, take some time for youself!

Beautiful

Step 6: Now that we're feeling relaxed, why don't we take a road trip to somewhere we love? You get to choose for you. Maybe it's a museum, the aquarium, the park down the street, or even the library! Get outside and do something : )

Step 7: Now at this point I would say you could start to chillax for the evening already lol! I would make yourself (or buy *wink*) a lovely dinner of your favorite food and then watch some movies. Suggestions:

- The Notebook
- You've Got Mail (Amber...hehe)
- 50 First Dates
- Becoming Jane (in a really heartbreaking way lol)
- Big Fish (weird but I like it!)

Oh there's TOO many!! I could go on and on and on! Lol...what about you? Some of your favorites?

Step 8: Take a few minutes to remember yourself. Who's important? YOU are. : ) Here, I'll give you a push in the right direction.

People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed
only if there is a light from within.

Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong.

You'll never have enough.

you cannot tell it about other people.

~ Virginia Woolf ~

Thanks for sticking with me through this little guide : ) I know it isn't much, but I hope you enjoyed some good music and maybe a couple laughs too!

GIVEAWAY TIME: It's not very specific but the winner will recieve some chocolate and a book that is to be determined! It's a little bit of a mystery ; ) All you have to do is leave a comment this time around, folks.

Don't forget to stop by the other blogs with giveaways going on currently for the blogfest:

Seasons of Humility
Doorkeeper
Writing for Christ

The winners are announced on Monday!!

One last thing before I go to all my blogger buddies, I wish everything this song has to offer for each and every one of you : )
Happy Valentine's Day to each one of you!!
With love,
Hannah

I Hope You Dance

  6. Hey Michelle!
Okay, let me just get this out of the way...YOU NEED TO READ A SOLDIER'S PROMISE!! Need to...lol! Cheryl is one of the sweetest, kindest, most loving people you could ever meet and her book reflects that so nicely. I just finished rereading it a couple weeks ago for Amber's reading challenge. If you keep an eye out, I still need to post a review : )

Lol I think I could use one too if I wasn't hurting quite so much :P *hands over a big stack of pancakes* Please, please enjoy!
THanks for stopping by and joining in, Michelle!

  7. Now I've got to go find the "Single Ladies" skit (from Saturday Night Live)with Justin Timberlake. If you haven't watched it, it's HILARIOUS!! :) (Btw, I don't even watch SNL, but this was on Oprah).
I needed this post back in the day. It's great!! My tradition used to be on Valentine's Day to either watch a horror movie or go on a blind date. I HATE both, btw. :)

  8. Hannah this is like the best post ever! It was sooo fun and I'm single so I'll definitely be doing some of these things! Books I recommend: Courting Morrow Little by Laura Frantz, Nightshade by Ronie Kendig and Sons of Thunder by Susan May Warren! Movies I recommend: North and South starring Richard Armitage, Jane Eyre starring Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens, pretty much any version of Pride and Prejudice and Kate and Leopold!!

Happy Valentine's Day to all us single ladies. ;-)

    XOXO~ Renee

That's HILARIOUS that you say that because guess what I kept finding pictures of when you search 'Single Ladies' sheesh! We did not need to see Justin Timberlake in a leotard ; )

And why thank you lol...it's nothing special justa couple thoughts! Lol. Never been on a blind date but a horror movie...hmmmm could be talked into it!
    Thanks for stopping by!
    Hannah

  14. *throws open the door, grabs Ariel, and gives her a big hug* Baha! You remembered :P

Ummm this wasn't really creative. It was kind of thrown together, which I feel terrible about!!

Yes, you need some chocolate! LOL! Girl, you're a teeny tiny lil thing, afraid I might lose you somewhere *Ariel's sitting on the couch. I'm searching all over for her!* Where is she!? Have you seen her? I can't find her!!! ROFL! Bahahahahah :P

Thanks for coming by, girl, talk to you soon...

  15. Hey now.... I am not that tiny :P Tiny yes, but not invisible! lol

And yes, it was creative :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Have you seen yourself!? Girl, you are going to waste away into nothingness. You are supa tall and supa skinny :P And nooooooo you're not invisible. Your personality is MUCH too big for that, hun.

    Oh pft!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well you're obviously delusional, child. *shaking head, digging in cupboards for some Reeses*

  18. Oh, Hannah! See, I told you, JOY just radiates from you and it’s contagious! This post made me smile big, and also doesn’t make me feel so alone in my “single lady” status ;)

And, I hope Renee doesn’t mind (I keep sneaking in on her ideas lately. Sorry, Renee!) but I’m gonna have to ditto her recommends of Courting Morrow Little and North & South! Being single isn’t so bad when you have Red Shirt and John Thornton close by ;D

I wish everything that song has to offer to you, too, girl! I’ve always thought I Hope You Dance was a beautiful song. Never heard this guy’s version before – sorry, but I don’t even know who he is, LOL! *blushing furiously* But he is cute… for a blonde ;)

Hannah, your blog is beautiful, love the colors and design :) I know I was here once or twice a while ago, but I’m gonna have to make it back more often! Thanks for adding so much FUN and JOY to this party, and a chance at a mystery giveaway! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

    Blessings,

  19. Amanda!!
What did I tell you, girl!? Sooooo sweet : )

You are certainly NOT alone on your 'single lady' status, dahling. We're just waiting for the right guy, in the meantime enjoy yourself! Lol...

Well daaaaaaaaaang another person telling me North and South. Gotta get me a copy of that!

Okay...I have NO idea who he is either!! ROFL But I liked his version so I used that instead ; ) And ohhhh "for a blonde"...hehehe guess we know how you feel! Lol! I have to say though I don't sppecifically use it, I tend to like dark hair *shrug* Don't ask me why!

Awwww *blush* thanks...I actually love this background too! Mmhmm I remember you stopping by....I don't know when though. Hmmm...oh well! Feel free to stop by more often if you want, Amanda, you're always welcome here, my friend : ) Happy Valentine's Day to you too!

*singing* All the single ladies! All the single ladies! Now put your hands up! *raises hand*

    ; )

    Hannah

  20. Awww, thanks Hannah :) Right back at ya, girl! And, YES, you MUST watch North & South!! Very few period dramas can rival it! Hope you get a copy soon! :)

LOL, I've always gone for guys with dark hair and... well, I don't care what color eyes! Mine are brown so probably someone with blue or green... I don't know. Guess thats up to the Lord, right? ;) Nothing against blonde guys, they're just not what I'm initially attracted to. Watch, I'll probably end up falling in love with a blonde guy, LOL! Serves me right, eh? ;P

    Blessings,
    Amanda

  21. Party at Hannah's house! Uh-uh, oh, oh, oh, oh...(this is Joy dancing to Beyonce....)

Great suggestions for books and movies. I loved the Notebook!! Is there nothing more romantic than the kiss in the rain scene? Sigh...

I haven't seen the last two though, Becoming Jane and Big Fish. I'll definitely have to check them out. :)

  22. First visit to your blog.....so fun....will be sure to come back! Thanks for interesting stuff!

  23. Hahaha Amanda once again I laughed at your comment! We truly must be separated at birth or something. I definitely have a thing for the tall dark and handsome guy too. I guess that's why we like Thornton and Red Shirt so much! ;-)

Hannah, North and South is a must see trust us, Amanda and I, we know what we're talking about! ;-)

    XOXO~ Renee

  24. I'll second (or third?) Amanda's and Renee's recommendation! North & South is definitely a must-see movie!!! ;D

Also, I highly recommend You've Got Mail! (Thanks for mentioning my name there!) ;)

  30. I can't believe I'm late to your V-day blogfest post, Hannah!! I'm so sorry, especially since your one of fave bloggers in the blogosphere and such a great friend. Anyways, LOVED the post, and since I'm a single lady too (though, I hear your might be joining the couple club soon *Wink*), I loved all the steps to having a great Valentines day, when it's just you, some books and for a suspicious looking squirrel sitting outside your window...at least it is for me.LOL And, I think there are just too many books that would be perfect to read on Valentine’s day i.e. Love Finds You In Hershey PA, A Bride In The Bargain, Making Waves, etc. But one of fave movies I got to see last year is Flipped. It was such a sweet romantic movie, I got just watch it again, and again.
I hope you had a geat day and I know I will talk to you soon.
    Love Ya,
    Ashley
