Book Review #3

The Eyes of DarknessThe Eyes of Darkness by Dean Koontz

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first book by Dean Koontz and I will most definitely be reading more by him. As explained in his new afterword, this book is quite different from his other books, which only intrigues me to try another one!

This book follows Christina Evans, mother to Danny. Danny died one year ago in a tragic camping accident when his entire boy scout troop and all of the chaperones were killed. However, now Tina's nightmare is only just beginning. She is having treacherous dreams at night, strange happenings all around her, and she found the words 'NOT DEAD' written on the easel chalkboard in Danny's room. Now it's up to her and newly acquired best friend and lover, Elliot Stryker,to figure out what is going on. Is Danny really dead....or is something fishy going on?

I was surprised in two different ways for this book. On one hand, I was surprised because it was not scary. I would not describe this book as being scary at all. When I think of Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and other authors of the like I think 'scary'. However, this was a superb psychological thriller. I can imagine that if I was a mother, I would have reacted a little more strongly, but since I'm not I thought it was chilling at parts. The ending was touching, but ended quite abruptly. I was hoping for a little more long range closer, I would say.

I strongly recommend you trying Koontz's writing. This might be a good plave to start if you are nervous about it being too scary. Wonderful job, Mr. Koontz!!

Almost turkey day! Enjoy the new background ; )

IT'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, folks! The day you've been waiting for is finally here!! I wish that this post could be a review, but alas it can't be : (

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows managed to work their way into all theaters near you (probably!) last night starting at midnight sharp. Countless fans were mesmerized by J.K. Rowling's underlying plot mixed with a little Hollywood magic.

This is the English copy of the book that I have:

Quite different from the American version:

Remember those good, ol' days way back when. Harry, Ron, and Hermione merely babies to the wizarding world of Hogwarts. Quickly becoming the very best of friends, available for adventures galore!

Through thick and thin,

they've stuck together.

We have seen them mature as character on a page, stars on a screen, and teenagers. We can relate to them, envy them, and inevitably love them. Thank you Daniel, Rupert, Emma and all of our other beloved character for taking us on this journey! Also we need to congratulate J.K. Rowling on her many success. Though this is not quite the end, we are getting there unfortunately. Let us just be thankful that we can always pull our books from our shelves and pop our DVDs in our players.

So, who has been your favorite character? Or characters because I know how hard it is to choose only one. Join me in my celebration as we welcome the newest installment of the Harry Potter movies into our lives (heeheehee)!!

HAPPY HARRY POTTER PREMIER!!!!!!!
Hannah
P.S. Check out the trailer for HP7 now!!
P.P.S. I know a girl in one of my classes that went to the premier last night. It was difficult to drag herself to class this morning, but she said it was completely worth it! She says that this is by far the best of all the movies thus far. Here's hoping she's right! ; D

Sorry it's been so long!!! Book Review #2 (even though there have been many inreviewed books in between!)

Latte Trouble (Coffeehouse Mystery, #3)Latte Trouble by Cleo Coyle

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cleo Coyle has done it again! Mesmerized readers with her fascinating writing ability! There were many parts that I did not want to put this book down. Starting out with a bang there is a mysterious murder at the Village Blend. One murder, one seriously injured, and one attempted victim that is. Throughout the rest of the book there are twists and turns, but none hold anything to a major twist Coyle includes around ten pages before the end. You will be shocked, literally gasping out loud - at least I was! I was impressed with an attempt to rekindle a romance, a shocking discovery dealing with Clare's daughter, Joy, and what could possibly be next between the coffee shop owner and her mysteriously handsome detective. Can't wait to see what's next! Stay tuned for my review of the next installment Murder Most Frothy (not reading next, but hopefully within the next month). Bravo Ms. Coyle, you've done it again!!

Until next time!
Hannah
