Is that a...cell phone!? Are you a....time traveller!?

Lol....love that title : ) Happy Thursday to one and all!! And a good day it is (pretty much) because tomorrow I get to head back home again! Lol....

I just found this video. It was highlighted on The Early Show yesterday, I think. Some of you might have already seen it, but I really wanted to post it in case you hadn't! It's crazy.....

-------------------------------WARNING------------------------------------
To read this post, you must extend your disbelief because it is very disbelievable. So please bear with me and use your IMAGINATION!

George Clarke, an up-and-coming film maker, bought a collection of Charlie Chaplin's movies. Included in the bonus features was about the premier of 'The Circus'. It featured live black and white footage of the actual premier. However, Clarke supposedly found something interesting/unusual in the footage, but kept it for himself trying to decipher what it actually was. Well, he finally decided to release what he found so that others could help him figure out what it really is. So, here's the clip (no, you don't need to watch the entire 1:19, but watch as much as you need to!):

So....what do you think? First of all, I want to point out that this premier took place in 1928, just to give you a time point. Well Clarke and others think that it very well could be a cell phone. At least that is what it appears to be. At the time there were small trumpet looking devices that acted as a microphone, enhancing sound. However, the way she's walking with it and what appears to be talking into it, don't make sense. The last theory, and no I am not making this up, is that she is a time traveller. Yes, 'tis true my friends. No, you didn't hear me wrong. They seriously think it could be a time traveller.....now what are some things that don't make sense abotu it (other than the obvious....it's a CELL PHONE!?)

- reception
- Who would they be calling?
- Would it really work across decades?
- Why aren't people there in that time making a bid deal about it??

I just wanted to share that with you folks and see what you think! Tell me your thoughts people and vote on the poll!! If you're interested in watching the original video from George Clarke see it HERE
Thanks,
Hannah

  1. I confess I'm not sure what's going on... ;)

The time-traveler thing reminds me of Kate & Leopold, though! Like at the beginning when Stuart has his little camera--taking pictures of the past! ;)

  4. That did cross my mind, Kav. I guess someone needs to go out and buy that DVD, eh? Why else would he have advertised it so much where he found it, you know? That's what I don't get. Obviously this video isn't exactly what's in the bonus footage on the DVD, they obviously slowed it down and played it MULTIPLE times for us to see, but otherwise I don't understand why he'd bring so much attention to where he found it!

    I don't know...lol...
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to vote!

  5. I admit it looks like she's talking on a cell phone but I'm sure she's not. They didn't have cell phone towers back then so how on earth could she use a cell phone if there are no towers? I read on YouTube that she's holding an ice pack to her jaw and yelling at her husband for not waiting on her. lol

  6. LOL Angie!! Could be for all we know...

Exactly, I mean there's really no way it could be a cell phone. But I thought that it was something to show you guys near your weekend!

  7. Yay, you're heading home! I got to see my oldest daughter last weekend and stayed at her dorm overnight so we could do the Women of Faith conference together. It was so nice.

That video was on Nightline tonight! So funny how it's been all over so fast!

  9. OMG - your blog design = AWESOME. I cannot wait for Harry Potter!!! I heard about the time traveller with the cell phone. Apparently the phone is not a phone, but a sort of ear drum that people who were hard of hearing used back in those days. But the cell phone idea is much more fun! :)

  10. Hey Lindsay and Jess!
I'm sorry about the video....I see that it's not working, not sure why. Maybe they'll only let you have it up for so long? Hope you guys are doing well!

  11. THANKS Julie!! I love it too *grin* A bit bummed that the writing is so dark, but maybe I can tweak that...? Not sure, been busy and haven't had time to try to fix it.
    Always good to see you!
