Sorry for the delay!!!!
I am SO sorry that I've been gone for so long! Ahhhhh! I haven't liked it and I'm really gonna try and be better, I promise! So, PLEASE forgive me!
Now how you gonna ignore a face like that?!
Anyway, back to the point of this blog! (heehee) A whole other week has gone by again! It doesn't seem possible does it? I don't think so! Last week we made Papel Cotado or "cut paper" in class. The kids loved it! Let me tell you! If you ever need a fun craft for kids, do this. It's just like snowflakes that we make at Christmas time here.
Above is a very elaborate picture of what would be MANY papel cortado's in the streets of Mexico. Ours do not look exactly like this, but they do look awesome! I am SO impressed by how they turned out. Alicia helped me hang them on string and they are hung above and below the bulletin board in the hallway. I will try and take some pictures and get them up soon to show you all.
As far as the take-home portion, it is going well. All materials have been returned. Only one book (between both Ireland and Mexico books) has fallen apart so far : ) I'm glad only one has fallen apart (trying to look on the bright side of things), it's better than a whole bunch!
What's on the upcoming agenda?

- February vacation
- 1 week: send home reminder of Family Celebration and RSVP
- March 1st: Family Celebration
That's about how it's going to wrap up, I think. Sorry for this being such a long post. I've been having longer posts to catch you all up instead of short ones all the time. Which do you prefer? Another week gone by....
Finals are over!!!!! Can I get a Woo Woo! *echo Woo Woo!* I'm sooooo happy! : )
I got my acceptance packet in the mail today from Plymouth and found out that I recieved a scholarship from them, which is a relief! It is a $20,000 4-year scholarship. This really lowers the cost every year!
The second week of Hannah's READ Program in class is complete! We made tissue paper flowers and it was such a hit with the kids. They really enjoyed doing it!
I was able to get the bulletin board all assembled with everything that I have from the take-home folders and the flowers. It is SO colorful! It's really fun! The title of the bulletin board is "First Graders in Mexico!". Over the next couple of weeks, our bulletin board will just keep getting better and better : )
The next games went home. I will be getting them back next Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll see what the feedback is on them.
Ms. Edson will probably be coming to observe me in the classroom on Tuesday, February 2. This will be interesting for me and the kids.
Next Tuesday (when school resumes, we have a 4 day weekend), I will be starting my internship at the elementary school where I am also doing my project. I am SO excited to do this!! It will be 2 hours out of my school day every day : ) What could be better than that?!

New Updates!!
Hello everyone!
First of all, let me say that I'm sorry I've been gone for so long! I have been EXTREMELY busy between the take-home portion of Hannah's READ Program, in-class portion of Hannah's READ Program, finals at school, scholarships, and other "stuff"!! I know I shouldn't complain because everyone is having busy schedules, but yes, I'm busy!
My final totals are:
Mrs. Langley - 8
Mrs. Ehret - 9
Grand total - 17 participants
I am extremely happy with this turnout! Last session I had 17/23 kids and this time 17/22, so my percentage went up. I officially went up from 73% to 77%! Woohoo!! I'm happy to say that this also includes 3 new kids that did not do Hannah's READ Program for the 1st session!
I have completed my first time back in each classroom. Mrs. Langley's class was super excited to be starting up again. This is really great for me because it makes me even more excited to be doing it. Mrs. Ehret's class is very quiet, but I think they were excited too. They were more responsive to me quicker this time than last time too. We studied Mexico! We found it on a world map, which we colored in. We looked at it close-up on a map. We colored the flag. The last thing we did was speak some Spanish (Hola, adios, por favor, gracias, el chico, and la chica). The kids loved it! They had a lot of fun with it, I think.
This also means that the first folders went home. It was a struggle to get them all ready in time (I'm not gonna lie!!), but they did get finished, which is the important part. When handing them out, one student exclaimed, "YAY! Homework!!" : ) It was very cute!
Tomorrow night is my presentation for the WRS PTA that I had told you all about. It will be between 20-30 minutes long plus questions. I will be highlighting the goals of my program, the 1st session, feedback, and a sneak peek of the 2nd session. I invited 8 people and I know definitely that 6 will be coming. I also know that a couple of the parents who participated in the program last session will be there also. I'm kind of nervous, but excited for everyone to see what I've accomplished too!
Okay...I think that it...everyone take a deep breathe *breathe in, breathe out* There, don't you feel better now?? Sorry to overwhelm you! I haven't had an update and have been meaning to get on, but it just hasn't happened.
If anyone has any questions, lemme know! Sorry this is SUCH a long post!
